Exciting Playground News!!

Room for Growing will be redesigning both the infant/toddler and preschool playgrounds this summer. Plans for these new playgrounds will be available for viewing soon. When construction begins it should take two weeks to complete. During this time the children will use the gym and back grassy area for large motor activity. A lot of thought went into the design process so we could provide the most interesting, fun and safest environment possible. We will be doing a fundraiser to help with the high cost of building these playgrounds. We are hoping to raise at least $3,000 with this fundraiser to help with the over $60,000 needed to pay for this exciting renovation. We will be selling “World’s Finest” candy bars. Information about this fundraiser will be coming out within the next few weeks.

Parent Aware Star Rating

You may have noticed our sign in the front of the building from "Parent Aware" stating that we have received the highest possible rating. Parent Aware’s star ratings help you find the type of quality, nurturing programs that will help prepare your babies, toddlers and preschoolers for school and life. The star ratings are based on a number of factors, such as: family partnerships, teaching materials and strategies, tracking of learning, teacher training and education and child safety. Watch for more information about the Parent Aware program coming soon.

Summer Packets

Your families Summer Activity Packet will be going out this month. In this packet you will find everything you need to know about our summer program. We have many wonderful activities planned, including, visitors, field trips and special parties. All activities for the summer program will require pre-payment, a form for this is included in your packet.

Summer Sunscreen

All children will need sunscreen applied before going outside. Room for Growing has purchased classroom sunscreen for children to use for $1.00 for the Summer. Just fill out a “sunscreen form” and drop it by the office and we will bill your account. If you prefer to send your own sunscreen please feel free, again please fill out a “sunscreen form” specifying the brand of sunscreen your child will be using. Sunscreen forms can be found in your child’s classroom.

Fall Registration

We will be sending out “Fall Registration” forms this month. Just like summer all families will need to register for fall and pay a $50.00 deposit to hold their spot. You will have the option to roll your summer deposit over to fall. No child’s spot will be held for fall with out this form being returned.

Featured Teacher

This month we would make to feature Tara Metcalf. Tara has been with RFG since 2001. She is the afternoon teacher in our infant 2 room. Tara has found her niche with infants and toddlers. She is currently going to school taking courses in sign language hoping to be an interpreter someday. Her sign language training has been very valuable because of the baby signs we are doing with our infants and toddlers. An interesting fact: Tara used to come to Room For Growing as a child.

Lauren Freathy - school age teacher has been with us since 2001.
Laura Krengel – preschool 1 afternoon teacher celebrates 1 year with us this month.
Vicki McKee – preschool 5 morning teacher celebrates 1 year with us this month.
